Jakarta. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) is limiting lending to the mining sector, due to the increase of non-performing loan (NPL) in that sector.
As of September, BBNI noted that non-performing loan (NPL) in the mining sector increased to 7.8%. “Until the end of the year we will continue to disburse credit to this sector (mining) selectively,” said Herry Sidharta, Deputy Director of BBNI, as quoted by Bisnis Indonesia on Thursday (14/11) today.
Meanwhile, the total loans disbursed by BBNI to the mining sector as of September 2019 have reached Rp 12.9 trillion. This amount is equivalent to 2.4% of the total loans disbursed by the company from January to September 2019.
